BLUNDSTONE SHOE CARE
Give your Blundstones the love they deserve with proper shoe care! Although our boots are designed to last, it is vital that you care for them to extend their life and shine. Our boots are made of leather with different finishes, smooth leather, suede and nubuck. Each leather needs specific care to keep it clean and ensure that the leather does not dry out.
All Blundstones are made from a natural product. Leather, suede and nubuck need care, otherwise the material may dry out. If it dries out, there is a good chance that the leather will tear. It is also important that you use proper shoe care.
Follow our tips below to properly care for your Blundstone boots.
CLEANING LEATHER
First, remove any caked-on dirt on your boots with a soft brush or damp cloth and allow your boots to air dry. Make sure the boots are away from direct sunlight or heating appliances as they will dry out the leather.
Apply the Blundstone shoe polish or renovating cream to the leather to help maintain your boots. If you are using the polish or cream for the first time, try it on an inconspicuous part of the shoe to check if it changes the color or appearance.
Allow the polish or cream to absorb. Extra shine? After soaking in the shoe, polish it with a dry cloth.
NB! If you use the Blundstone renovating cream to care for the leather, it is advisable to spray the shoes with the Blundstone waterproof spray after the last step. If you use the Blundstone shoe polish, this is not necessary. The polish nourishes the leather and makes the leather water-repellent.
CLEANING SUEDE
Use a suede brush to scrub away any surface stains or dirt. Make sure the boots are away from direct sunlight or heating appliances.
Use the Blundstone shoe polish to nourish the suede.
Let the Blundstone shoe polish soak in thoroughly. It's a good idea to waterproof boots regularly to protect the leather from stains. If the leather is wet, allow it to dry naturally before cleaning or using detergents.
CLEANING NUBUCK
Use a dry cloth to remove any dirt on the surface. Use a circular motion and make sure you don't spend more than a few seconds on any one area.
Pat the shoes with a clean towel to remove excess moisture and allow to air dry. Never place the shoes near heaters or in the sun.
Care for the shoes with the Blundstone shoe polish. Apply this polish to the nubuck with a dry cloth. Please note that the color will become a bit darker. Over time, the color will change back to the old “lighter” color.
Allow the Blundstone shoe polish to soak in thoroughly before wearing the shoes again.
Remember that it is a good idea to waterproof boots regularly to protect the leather from stains. If the leather is wet, allow it to dry naturally before cleaning or using detergents.
EXTRA TIPS FOR SHOE CARE
Never dry your boots near an open flame or artificial heat source, as this will cause the leather to harden, shrink and crack. This can even cause the leather to pull away from the sole. Always dry your boots naturally at room temperature.
Always store your boots in a well-ventilated, cool place away from sunlight or heat that will damage the leather.
Do not expose your boots to chemical contamination. Solvents, strong acids and alkalis will cause irreparable damage to the leather, while everyday substances such as milk and salt are also very damaging. In case of exposure, clean boots immediately.
Only use Blundstone brand cleaning agents for shoe care.
