I am sure I am not the only one with a wishlist. Some have a wishlist relating to activities such as skydiving or bungee jumping. The other has a wishlist of all kinds of destinations equivalent to a trip around the world. I am one of the latter people. Over the past few years, I have compiled a list of the most beautiful and cool places that I would like to travel to at least once.
Ideally, I would like to tick off all the destinations on this bucket list. Just one after the other, and go on a trip around the world. A few months with myself on a trip. Just relax and enjoy the place where I am at that moment. That sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
Searching for…
My friends thought I was crazy. ‘’Bas are you going to travel alone for three months?’’ ‘’That will never work out well”. I let them talk, however I knew I could travel by myself! So, like I said, I’ve spent the past few years thinking about the places I want to visit. Personally, I really enjoy going out for a long walk. So, I filtered the best possible countries.
Destinations
The countries I would like to explore are America, Canada and Australia. These countries have such beautiful areas and landscapes and I have never been there before. I haven't decided yet which cities and other places in these countries I want to visit, but I will try to visit as much as possible. Moreover, I am still planning to ask my best friend Martijn to come along. I know I said before that I could go alone, and that is true, but it is more fun with two.
He is also quite adventurous by nature and loves a good challenge. I have known Martijn since primary school and we are still very close. I decided to send him a text and explain the plan!
A few moments later I received a response from Martijn, he is about to join me on the trip! I’ am very happy with that, because sometimes it can me quite lonely to make such a long journey all alone. Martijn and I decided to come together next week to discuss a few things about the trip.
Brainstorming
Martijn visited me to discuss the trip. He quickly said that he was looking forward to a long trip with beautiful landscapes and nature reserves. He just had to arrange the right things for the trip. I wondered what he needed. The right shoes, for example'', said Martijn. ''You have a point,'' I replied. OK, but back to the trip itself.
I said to Martijn that I would like, for example, to rent a camper, van or something similar in each country we visit, so we are free and could do whatever we want to do. Martijn was immediately convinced and our plans are coming together. We are already looking forward to it!
Preperations
Although the journey has not started yet, I can of course already gather all the necessary items. As we will be travelling a lot and want to visit many destinations, I do need the right equipment. Several sets of clothes for different weather conditions and the right chelsea boots for men are the most important things for now.
